about · why this exists

we help you make exactly what you want.

the thing in your head, the one you saw in a shop, the one someone was wearing on the train. got knit writes the pattern for it, in the yarn you already have, in your size. every number checked.

four things we hold to
01

it actually works.

every stitch count, every decrease, every yard is computed from your gauge in code. the machine writes the words around numbers we hand it, and a checker reads the pattern back before you see it.

02

made by you.

you are the designer. you said what you wanted to wear. the machine is the very patient assistant that did the math and the typing.

03

finishing is the point.

the product isn’t the pdf. it’s the thing on your body and the photo of it. row counters, charts you can read, checkpoints every section, and a little celebration when you bind off.

04

priced by how hard it is to knit.

every pattern comes with a receipt that says what made it harder: the shaping, the colorwork, the grading. a simple hat costs less than a colorwork yoke in your size. you see the price before you pay, and what you buy is yours.

Making something, anything, by hand will enrich a life. Awareness of a thing, intimately, through countless hours of obsession, fatigue, creative awakenings, boredom, frustration. These are luxuries because they are uniquely conscious and achingly human.

We are at the center of the techno-sapien timeline, but much of tech has lowered our quality of life; it’s all algorithms and likes. The north star is no longer self-creation and personal exploration, but scattering our highest currency, our attention, out to countless strangers who are also not anchored in themselves. We believe that the way to a utopia is through society adopting habits of deep reflection and self-fulfillment, such as knitting.

This founder happens to have found these deep states of reflection and personal satisfaction in knitting. She hopes you will find the same, and that got knit provides you with meaningful value. Our goal is to make participation in human craftsmanship widely adopted and preserved, with the assistance of modern technology. Thank you for reading.
